Engaging Youth and Communities in the 4-H Mission Mandates:

  • Science, Engineering & Technology
  • Healthy Living
  • Citizenship

The United States is falling dangerously behind other nations in developing its future workforce of scientists, engineers, and technology experts.

To ensure global competitiveness, we must act now to prepare the next generation of science, engineering, and technology leaders with necessary 4-H SET workforce skills to compete in the 21st century.

THE NEED

America presently faces a significant challenge: young people are not prepared with the necessary SET workforce skills to compete in the 21st century (Rising Above the Gathering Storm, 2006).

THE GOAL

Reach One million new youth with a 4-H SET Experience by 2013.

WHAT IS 4-H DOING?

4-H provides youth with hands-on learning experiences that foster exploration, discovery and passion for the sciences.
