Science Camps

The Utah ASTEC program invests in projects that develop and implement informal learning experiences designed to increase interest, engagement, and understanding of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. These efforts are directed primarily at middle school and secondary school-aged students. This request for proposal is meant to provide educational experiences outside the formal classroom setting and is not part of a formal school program, activity or assignment. The Utah ASTEC program is seeking experiences for middle school and secondary school-aged students that increase the student's engagement, knowledge, comfort-level, and motivation in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics via a program of hands-on, peer-based experience and exploration. Camps designed to increase the scientific knowledge base of high school and jr. high school instructors will also be considered.
The total funding for this program has ranged from $150,000 to $175,000 in the past years. Pending legislative funding the grant solicitation for the ASTEC program will be released in early April.
