The State Energy Program, in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, supports partnerships that promote and improve energy efficiency and turn renewable energy resources into viable alternatives to fossil fuels.

Utah Geological Survey

The Utah Geological Survey, a division of the Utah Department of Natural Resources, provides timely scientific information about Utah's geologic environment, resources, and hazards.

Utah EQIP: Enviornmental Quality Incentives Program

The Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) is a voluntary conservation program that provides assistance to landowners and agricultural producers in a manner that promotes agricultural production and enviornmental quality as compatible goals.  Through EQIP, farmers and ranchers receive financial and technical assistance to implement structural and management conservation practices that optimize environmental benefits on working agricultural land.  EQIP is re-authorzied through the 2008 Farm Bill.

With EQIP, NRCS provides funding and expertise for measures to protect natural resources while ensuring sustainable production on farms, ranches and working forest lands.

UGIP: Utah Grazing Improvement Program

Under a Utah Department of Agriculture and Food proposal, the position of “rangeland specialist” was created to carry out the responsibility to represent the interests of Utah’s livestock industry over rangeland issues.The Program (GIP) has three major components:

  1. Expand the authority and ability of regional and state grazing boards to impact federal management plans and current rangeland issues.
  2. Through a coordinated effort, GIP will expand the number of projects that rehabilitate our natural resources, increase productivity and protect the landscape for all Utahns.
  3. A revision of NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act). Work for a process that continues to make land management discussions that are “open” but are more reasonable, affordable and effective in addressing the impacts of invasive species and productive capacity of rangeland and watersheds.  GIP must find ways to stop wasting resources on frivolous legal maneuvering.  It must bring opponents into the discussion from the beginning.

Divison of Wildlife

DWR Mission: The mission of the Division of Wildlife Resources is to serve the people of Utah as trustee and guardian of the state's wildlife, and to ensure its future and values through managment, protection, conservation and education.

Agency goal: Improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Division of Wildlife Resources.

Resource goal: Expand wildlife populations and conserve sensitive species by protecting and improving wildlife habitat.

Constituency goal: Achieve broad-based support for division programs and budgets by demonstrating the value of wildlife to all citizens of Utah.
