Prosperity 2020

AAA

EDUCATION IS THE PATH TO ENDURING PROSPERITY.

Utah business leaders know that the most important investment in a vibrant economy is education. It is the path to enduring prosperity. Great businesses are built with human capital—well-trained and educated workers.

Utah business and community leaders are organizing a movement—Prosperity 2020—to advance educational investment and innovation. Our vision is that Utah’s educated and trained workforce will propel Utah to enduring prosperity, improved quality of life and the strongest economy in the nation.

Our goal is to raise the bar for students of all ages. We want 90 percent of elementary students to achieve math and reading proficiency.   And two-thirds of Utahns should achieve postsecondary training by 2020. Yes, we want two out of every three Utahns 20 years of age and older to have a skilled trade certificate or college degree. Why? Because a national study on America’s workforce needs shows that is what Utah employers will require to maintain a vibrant and competitive workforce.

Prosperity 2020 is the movement that will get us there. It provides a business-oriented plan to improve results. It inspires action. It unifies the community to achieve a better future for our children and grandchildren.

We approach this future with an ambitious spirit. We are ambitious for our children to have high paying Utah jobs that will support their families; ambitious for Utah businesses to grow and prosper; ambitious for new businesses to be spawned by our innovative thinkers.

Achieving transformational goals takes time and tenacity. We will spend the time and show the tenacity to make this happen. Together, we can lift our state’s vision for education and create a path for enduring prosperity.

Prosperity 2020 … it starts with education.

Utah business and community leaders appreciate your interest in Prosperity 2020. Since we are a coalition of people and entities, we do not have an office, office hours or a mailing address. Rather, we are a group of people who are committed to improving education in Utah. We know that prosperity in Utah starts with education. We invite you to join us in this movement.
